NextgenID™ the leader in secure identity proofing and credentialing, today announced global consulting authority ASM Research – An Accenture Federal Service Company as its latest collaborator in launching the world’s first secure identity proofing available entirely remotely. The strategic partnership helps enable, for the first time ever, identity proofing’s highest security certification in a completely remote format.

NextgenID’s work with ASM commences just in time for the approaching launch of PresenceID™, a nationwide network of more than 250 self-service, ATM-like “Identity Station” locations. The network will allow anyone to conveniently and confidently verify their identity in accordance with even the rigorous high-assurance identity proofing standard required in high-security government settings.

Key to the standard’s high security rating is its requirement that identity proofing sessions be supervised by live human agents. While this protocol renders fraud virtually impossible, it also entails a major downside in making high-assurance identity proofing cumbersome, costly and time-consuming. As a result of these barriers, well-meaning but under-informed organizations often settle for lesser protocols that, while more convenient, leave them vulnerable to attacks.

Together with ASM, NextgenID is bringing the de facto gold standard within reach for all through a patented technology known as Supervised Remote Identity Proofing (SRIP). As its name suggests, SRIP replaces the need for onsite supervision with agents who monitor identity proofing sessions entirely remotely. The process meets all the same security criteria as traditional in-person methods, but without the unnecessary time, costs and inconvenience.

ASM has been supporting NextgenID since last year by providing experienced, specially trained identity proofing agents to serve its growing client base. These agents have played a critical role in enabling Supervised Remote Identity Proofing (SRIP) and will continue to support the upcoming launch of the nationwide PresenceID™ network. ASM’s personnel work closely with NextgenID’s internal team to deliver seamless, high-assurance identity proofing that meets the strictest security standards.

In partnering with NextgenID, ASM joins a growing network of collaborators, including the United States Postal Service—hosting PresenceID™ Identity Stations at post offices nationwide—and 38North Security, which has helped PresenceID achieve federal compliance, including the critical FedRAMP certification, a key milestone in meeting stringent government security standards.
