Partnership brings next-generation biometric authentication to VA systems.
NextgenID today announced it has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
to deliver a Biometric Authentication Pilot in partnership with prime contractor Zeva, Inc. The program
introduces the VA to NextgenID’s patented Supervised Remote Identity Proofing (SRIP) platform, a NIST
800-63-3/4-compliant solution for both In-Person and SRIP-based enrollments.
Central to the pilot are Kantara-certified and NIST-compliant PresenceID™ Identity Stations (Kiosks),
which will be used to enroll facial and iris biometrics for contactless authentication. Powered by SRIP,
the Kiosks provide a high-assurance model for identity proofing while ensuring accessibility for all
users.
The initiative will evaluate how advanced biometrics can modernize access to VA clinical IT systems,
reduce reliance on traditional credentials, and strengthen cybersecurity protections.
Through the combined expertise of Zeva in federal security programs and NextgenID’s patented SRIP
technology, the VA is positioned to test a future-ready solution that enhances accessibility, improves
user experience, and ensures the highest standards of trust.
“NextgenID is honored to partner with Zeva to deliver the Department of Veterans Affairs its first
Biometric Authentication Pilot,” said Mike Horkey, VP of Revenue & Growth, NextgenID. “Through our
PresenceID™ platform, we are bringing the VA a secure and frictionless biometric enrollment and
authentication solution, ensuring its workforce has the most advanced tools to safeguard sensitive
clinical systems.”
“Zeva is proud to partner with NextgenID on this groundbreaking initiative,” said Gary DiPalma, CTO,
Zeva. “Together, we are providing the VA with a future-ready solution that strengthens cybersecurity,
enhances staff experience, and sets a path for nationwide adoption.”
